The Pony Express

We played a game in class today in Social Studies to learn about the Pony Express. Students wrote notes and could pass them to the other “states” (tables) only through the assigned mail carrier that came to them. About halfway through, my teacher mailbox started getting filled up.

Some of the messages:

“thank u for what u do!”

“you are a grait teacher”

“You are the best”

Several write-ins of “I love you”

So proud of these students taking this freedom in a game for notes to write encouraging words to one another and to me. I was so concerned about them remembering the concept of the Pony Express I did not think much about what they would put in their letters. They blew me away in the best sense, yet again. Way to go second graders!
