Thank you,

Ms.Ford’s GoFundMe

“This past fall, one of our dear friends fell extremely ill. Refusing to let her be in the hospital alone, Jordan (along with many dear friends) selflessly gave up their vacation days and took time off of work to care for our dear friend. Ironically, this past Sunday, our sweet Jordan was admitted to the same exact hospital room that our friend was in several months ago. Jordan had an emergency appendectomy on Sunday. She still isn’t well and has quite the journey towards recovery ahead.

Jordan is a Teacher Assistant at Invest Collegiate Imagine, in Asheville, NC. She is beloved by everyone who’s lucky enough to know her. The staff and students adore her. She’s truly one in a million. Jordan selflessly gives, without ever asking anything in return. Our precious funny girl needs us more now than ever. With medical bills looming and no PTO remaining from work, anything you feel compelled to give will be much appreciated. Our dancing queen has lost the skip in her step; but only temporarily. She will get through this, with our help, and with yours. ”

Keep at Home

Hi Families,
Several journals and folders are coming home today to stay, if you could continue to send the yellow folder to send work home as I grade it that would be helpful! Reminder no HLO this week.

Hi Everyone,
I have had several requests for work to do this summer and have compiled a list for you!
Most important skills to work on:
  • Math Fact Fluency (addition and subtraction within 20) can use any flashcards for this…if your student is ready to go on to multiplication and division facts go for it!
  • Deep comprehension discussions about reading (I borrowed this list of questions from another NC school district).
Websites to use:
Khan Academy-self paced, students love this.
ABCya-variety of games for skills (this is for fact fluency).
Topmarks-reading comprehension activities.
Additional skills to review with games or printables linked:
Printable Spiral Review Packet (a little bit of everything)
Also if you are interested in this book that goes with Core Knowledge standards:

I also personally love and recommend the Read Aloud Handbook by: Jim Trelease!
Also here’s a cute list of summer activities.
Most importantly I hope you take time to enjoy your summer and come back refreshed for next year!

Thank you for everything you do every day as parents! I feel lucky to have taught your children this year.
Ms. Lombardo
