About Me

Some Things To Know About Me!

Hi! My name is Sarah Flood. This will be my fourth year teaching elementary education, and my third year teaching first grade here as a part of the IC Imagine team. I started my college career at Warren Wilson College where I completed my Bachelors of the Arts with a primary focus in printmaking in 2012. I decided to take a year off from school after that milestone, where I met an incredible family who I nannied for. I had the pleasure of working with them and watching their children grow up while I obtained my Elementary Education Licensure from UNC Asheville. I had the privilege of student teaching at Evergreen Community Charter School in the fourth grade.

Before I became a nanny, I taught private and group swim lessons to children and adults of all ages at the downtown YMCA for around 5 years here in Asheville. I also worked in the Youth Development Center for around the same amount of time. My experience at the YMCA paved the way for me to become an educator. This was where I made the realization that education was my calling and how important shaping our youth is in order to have a bright, innovative and positive future within our world.

How I Spent My Summer!

I was able to relax and rest this summer after a busy 2017-2018 school year! I spent a lot of my time visiting with friends, family and my dogs (Biggy & Zoe). I had the privilege to travel to Santa Barbara, California with my family. We were able to venture up the coast to Monterey, onward to San Francisco, then back down to Santa Barbara where more of my family has lived my whole life. Most importantly, I was able to reset and get excited for all of the new Champions and families I get to enjoy getting to know this school year!
