About Me

Some Things To Know About Me!

Hi! My name is Sarah Flood. This will be my fifth year teaching elementary education, and my fourth year teaching first grade here as a part of the IC Imagine team. I started my college career at Warren Wilson College where I completed my Bachelors of the Arts with a primary focus in printmaking in 2012. I decided to take a year off from school after that milestone, where I met an incredible family who I nannied for. I had the pleasure of working with them and watching their children grow up while I obtained my Elementary Education Licensure from UNC Asheville. I had the privilege of student teaching at Evergreen Community Charter School in the fourth grade.

Before I became a nanny, I taught private and group swim lessons to children and adults of all ages at the downtown YMCA for around 5 years, here in Asheville. I also worked in the Youth Development Center for around the same amount of time. My experience at the YMCA paved the way for me to become an educator. This was where I made the realization that education was my calling and how important shaping our youth is in order to have a bright, innovative and positive future within our world!

How I Spent My Summer!

I was able to relax and rest this summer after a busy 2018-2019 school year! I spent a lot of my time visiting with friends, family and my dogs (Biggy & Zoe). I took a relaxing trip to Wild Dunes, in Isle of Palms, SC with my family where we enjoyed our days on the beach, swam in the ocean, collected copious amounts of sea shells, fished and ate lots of yummy seafood! Most importantly, I was able to reset and get excited for all of the new Champions and families I get to enjoy getting to know this school year!
