About Ms. Greenelsh

The most important thing to know about me is that I love serving as a teacher!  Einstein said “I never teach my pupils.  I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”  This belief drives much of my instruction in the classroom.  I attempt to teach in a way that is hands on reflects the personality and needs of our class.   Over the next year I hope the conditions are set for  your child to not only learn the content of 4th, but also to grow in joy, leadership, and love for learning.

Outside of school you will usually find me making anything from acts/crafts to things in the kitchen like cheese or yogurt.  But, my favorite things to make are clothes. In fact the large majority of my clothing is homemade.    On weekends or after school I also try to get outside as often as possible.  I love hiking, biking, and simply collecting things from nature. I also love all things science related, especially in the field of ecology.  This has driven me to start my certification in Environmental Education, which so far has been a ton of fun and full of new learning.

I believe one of the reasons I love the outdoors so much is because I have had the opportunity to grow up in the most beautiful place in the world: Western North Carolina!  I grew up near Maggie Valley, in Haywood County, and attended Western Carolina University for college.  When graduating college I knew that the mountains, people, and values of WNC had my heart, and this is where I wanted to stay to begin my own life and teaching career.  I being a part of the ICI family for my 7th year of teaching.
